Ramon Bilbao tasting with winemaker Rodolfo on his UK tour
Taking us to Rioja, wine tasting paired with tapas in the glorious sunshine.

Rioja born & bred, Rodolfo Bastida is a man who loves to explore boundaries. He has great respect for the knowledge and experience born of tradition and history although he also firmly believes that the future lies in exploring new paths.
Since creating his first vintage in 1999, Rodolfo has pursued the idea of high altitude vineyards and the importance of the boundaries for wine-growing, always close to the mountainsides of the Sierra Cantabria, in search of the elegance and complexity of the Tempranillo grape.

Every year he works alongside local wine-growers in the villages around Haro to select the best plots.

Rioja Reserva requires a minimum of 3 years total ageing in cask and bottle before release. This Tempranillo has 20 months in American oak barrels and 20 months in the bottle, resulting in a sumptuous and classical wine with notes of blackberries, cedar, leather and spices. Good balance on the palate with a long finish.

The 2012 Reserva Rioja is one of many fabulous wines on our new list starting this week!
